Meet Our Chief Financial Officer

Dawn Gonzales is our Head Start Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the financial well-being and sustainability of our organization. With a background as an Accountant/Research Administrator at New Mexico State University, Dawn brings a wealth of financial expertise to her role.

Her responsibilities include assisting in faculty proposal identification, budget preparation, and final submission. Once awarded, she diligently monitors the financial aspects of grants for compliance and allowably, approving or disapproving transactions as needed until the grant's expiration, at which point she closes them out.

Dawn's meticulous attention to detail extends to performing reconciliation throughout the life of grants, preparing spreadsheets, reports, and monitoring departmental expenditures. She is known for her ability to handle complex multimillion-dollar budgets effectively.
